Community engagement
Background Story
I started playing football back in 2003 under mathare youths sports association (MYSA) it was fun and enjoyable because we used to do it with our whole community and we would compete in zones (different communities). I played under different football clubs: Sacramento fc, Mighty South fc, Indomitable fc where I came to win zone titles with them.
My soccer coach also was concerned with his player, that is empowering them more than just playing soccer and through this he got an opportunity with Nairobits Trust back in 2014 after I had completed high school, the opportunity he connected me with was for studying graphic design and web development all the way up-to diploma level. This inturn became the focus of my career up-to today, when I left football professionally as a career in 2017.
Nowadays I do sports evangelism as a way mentorship to young children in the community, I play football in our church team of Nairobi Lighthouse Church.
Sports Evangelism
How I get to do this is through sports evangelism, through our ministry group called Christ Empowering Youths. I have grown up with soccer from a young age, in Dandora and I have seen the impact of participating in it, one major one has been keeping me way from harmful activities, gangs etc.
For me, soccer opened a door for me to learn Graphic design and Web Development in Nairobits Trust, where my coach connected me to the NGO. Today this area is my career focus.
